Geographic Information Systems

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a digital tool that allows collected information to be entered into a database, and displayed by type or in total to show the remediation process of a site. For example we can display historical information by itself or overlay the historical information with the current UXO removal and other environmental impacts. The power of GIS lies in its ability, through the use of spatial analytical techniques, to relate environmental risks with respect to historical, current, or planned cultural aspects of a given area.

OER has a complete package of GIS capabilities, which allow for the analysis of spatial relationships of anomalies and targets of interest. A project's GIS information is updated on a daily basis and available to clients for their review. By posting updates, the client and OER can track project progress as well as determine areas of high interest and provide the flexibility to dynamically redirect the project path and goals.
